At a fraction of the cost of an all-new in-flight entertainment (IFE)
system, quickly and easily enhance Rockwell Collins Total Entertainment System
(TES) with Audio/Video On Demand (AVOD) - the latest
in all-digital content with control at every passenger seat.
The ability to offer a variety of top-quality entertainment and information
options on demand is now a competitive "must have." More than
any other IFE functionality, AVOD drives passenger satisfaction. More savvy
passengers are using the availability of on-demand entertainment options at
their seats as a determining factor to fly your airline.
Adding the Digital Media Server (DMS) to your installed TES system is
the ideal way to deliver the AVOD functionality your passengers demand while
protecting your current capital investment. dTES preserves the existing TES
network architecture and seat equipment. A simple line replacement unit (LRU)
swap and associated software upgrade at the headend delivers AVOD.
Additional enhancements to the current dTES system are available to
reduce weight, decrease content load times, improved start of flight processing
and combining functionality of several LRU’s into one.
These upgrades will improve the overall Airline value of maintaining dTES
onboard for an extended period of time.
DESCRIPTION
The dTES solution provides a flexible approach to upgrade from analog
tape to high-quality digital audio and video sources. Replace tape players
with the DMS and increase content capacity while reducing headend volume.
Content delivery can be easily tailored to provide AVOD to premium cabins
only, if you wish to offer AVOD as a cabin-class differentiator. Upgrading your TES system to dTES provides expanded entertainment choices
with more control in the hands of your passenger while reducing your IFE operating
costs. There is no need to change seat equipment or cabling if passenger seatback
or in-arm displays are already installed. DMS features include the following. ARINC 600, 8 MCU 260GB of MPEG digital storage On-demand distribution including stop, pause, fast forward
