VHF-2100
Very High Frequency Transceiver

DESCRIPTION

The Rockwell Collins VHF-2100 provides reliable high-speed data communications and voice communication. It's compatible with ARINC 750, operates in ARINC 716 data mode and is equipped to handle today's 25 kHz, 8.33 kHz and VDL Mode A and Mode 2 communications.

The VHF-2100 series of VHF communications transceivers provide all the features of the highly successful VHF-700/VHF-900/VHF-900B/VHF-920 series VHFs with the capability for VDL Mode 2 operation. VDL Mode 2 is the newest high-speed data mode available for AOC and ATC applications featuring a 31.5 kbps digital modulation waveform. In addition the VHF-2100 has VDL Mode 3 expansion capabilities it provides the VHF platform for tomorrow's requirements minimizing risks associated with the changing regulatory environment.

Future ATC and AOC VHF communications will be all digital and the VHF-2100 is the VHF platform capable of today's digital and analog requirements as well as tomorrow's digital evolution. Increased processor power, expanded memory, state-of-the-art RF technology and growth slots together give the assurance that the VHF-2100 platform is designed for tomorrow's airspace requirements.

When the all digital voice/data VDL Mode 3 system is introduced by the FAA the VHF-2100 can be upgraded by a software dataloadable service bulletin which is already tested and certified today. As VDL Mode 4 requirements evolve the VHF-2100 platform will be ready to accommodate that functionality when needed. It is the VHF platform for the VDL Mode 4 NUP+ demonstrations.

For military and non-standard aviation applications, versions featuring an extended frequency range outside the commercial aviation frequency band are available (VHF-2100E).

The VHF-2100 offers these advantages:

  • Demonstrated VDL Mode 2, 3 and 4 performance
  • ARINC 750 and 716 compliant
  • DO-160D Change 3 compliant including HIRF
  • DO-178B level C compliant
  • ARINC 615 data loadable
  • Interchangeable in current installations with Series 700/900 units (subject to certification)
