EDFCS-730
Enhanced Digital Flight Control System

DESCRIPTION

The EDFCS-730 is an enhanced fully digital, fail operational autopilot flight director system. The dual system, part of the Boeing 737NG flight control system, performs tasks associated with flight director commands, speed selection, altitude selection, heading selection, autopilot, autoland, autothrottle and system fault isolation.

The EDFCS-730 provides Dual Channel autoland in landing conditions down to CATIIIb and rudder controlled rollout. The EDFCS-730 has been the standard autopilot flight director system for all Boeing 737NG series of aircraft since January 2003.

The EDFCS-730 autopilot flight director system consists of the following equipment types.

TYPICAL SYSTEM

Type Part Number Description
FCC-730 822-1604-101
Flight Control Computer (Boeing PN S241A100-101). Performs the data computation necessary to control the automatic and manual pilot functions and the automatic and manual land functions down to CATIIIa conditions. Each FCC-730 contains two identical independent hardware channels to accomplish fail safe operation using two FCP-2002 chip verified processors. This system provides autothrottle functionality and supports on-board or portable data loader capability for subsequent system upgrades. (Shipset contains 2 each).

MCP-730 822-1567-101
Mode Control Panel (Boeing PN S241A100-241). Provides the primary means of flight crew interface with the EDFC-730 system. Pushbutton engagement incorporates tactile feel switches for mode select functions.

Alternate System

Type Part Number Description
FCC-730 822-1604-151
Flight Control Computer (Boeing PN S241A100-151). Performs the data computation necessary to control the automatic and manual pilot functions and the automatic and manual land functions down to CATIIIb conditions, CATIIIb autoland and CATIII rollout. Each FCC-730 contains two identical independent hardware channels to accomplish fail safe operation using two FCP-2002 chip verified processors. This system provides autothrottle functionality and supports on-board or portable data loader capability for subsequent system upgrades. (Shipset contains 2 each).

MCP-730 822-1567-101 or 822-1567-102
Mode Control Panel (Boeing PN S241A100-242). Provides the primary means of flight crew interface with the EDFC-730 system. Pushbutton engagement incorporates tactile feel switches for mode select functions. This -102 model MCP includes an altitude intervention button and a speed intervention button not provided in the-101 model.

SVO-730 822-1588-101
Rudder Servo (Boeing PN S251A306-1). Provides Rudder Control for use under CATIIIb autolands. The SVO-730 is a required option for CATIIIb operation.
