OVERVIEW
Rockwell Collins ADF-900 is the latest generation of Rockwell
Collins highly successful ADF sensors. For many years the Collins sensors
have proven to be extremely reliable and cost effective. The ADF-900 contains
state-of-the-art technology, resulting in improved reliability. The ADF-900 meets ARINC-700 form,
fit and function characteristics, interfaces with other aircraft systems via
a serial ARINC 429 databus, and meets the racking and cooling requirements
of ARINC 600, and is compliant with environmental and software requirements. The ADF-900 can be retrofitted into existing aircraft and
used interchangeably with the series 700 ADF (subject to certification
approval). The ADF-900 contains partitioned, comprehensive end-to-end
self-test that will diagnose and isolate a system problem to an individual
LRU fault or a fault existing in connected peripherals (such as control panels,
antennas, etc). This improved internal test will decrease unnecessary removals. In addition to ARINC 604 BITE, which
connects with aircraft fault maintenance systems (A320/330/340/B-747-400/777/MD-11),
the ADF-900 has a simple, rugged, easy to interpret LED BITE
displays on the front panel. This allows confirmation of fault status in the
equipment bay of older design aircraft not having a fault maintenance system.
DESCRIPTION
The ADF-900 is designed to operate with an ARINC 712 antenna
such as the Rockwell Collins DFA-901. The antenna meets and exceeds
ARINC 712 specifications to ensure the highest system accuracy. Digital technology has given this system incredible reliability and
enhanced performance, and made maintenance much easier. Functions such as
signal baseband processing, audio filtering and self-test have all benefited
greatly from digital techniques. All mechanical adjustments are eliminated.
In addition, temperature and age-induced drift
errors are also eliminated with the inherent stability of digital filters. The ADF-900 Receiver meets all essential level HIRF requirements,
provides improved power interrupt capability, and enhanced BITE interface
for Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Specific ADF-900 part numbers and aircraft applicability
