Open systems architecture
Rockwell Collins open systems avionics augment and enhance aircraft
operational capabilities by integrating flight operations with navigation and guidance
functions and providing for future growth. Rockwell Collins'
intra-system, open architecture, IP-based solution incorporates best
practices and key technologies from the telecommunications and
computer industries. Civil and military functionality are isolated
to facilitate upgrades and lower life-cycle costs. For added
flexibility, processing
resources are placed in an IP-based, switched fabric network
enabling the user to add processors for increased capabilities.
By combining military and commercial upgrades, Rockwell Collins'
open systems architecture approach ensures ease of integration with multiple
products, such as weather radar, guidance systems, and flight and
situational awareness displays. The flight management system
integrates CARP, SAR, HARP, along with SIDS, STARS and Approach
Plates. |
