Services and Technologies Services ![]() Rockwell Collins takes pride in providing end-to-end solutions, with full support and training on our products and systems. Our proven and adaptable solutions are supported by industry-leading experts with extensive experience in flight control and navigation systems for a wide variety of manned and unmanned vehicles. Please visit our Service and Support page for an extensive overview of our offerings. Technologies Fault Tolerant Control ![]() Control algorithms optionally embedded into our products provide full operational envelope stability and robust control. Dual-redundant versions employ our patented, flight-proven, analytical, Fault-Tolerant Control (FTC) technology. In real-time, FTC detects and isolates the failure of a sensor or actuator, and reconfigures the flight control system on-the-fly to ensure uninterrupted operation. It features rivaling the reliability and performance of triplex hardware redundant schemes, but at a significantly lower hardware cost. Our highly modular software architecture provides the flexibility for system adaptability and growth, while also ensuring accurate control event timing for even the most demanding applications. The option of hosting user software and direct access to various control and navigation state parameters reduces the need for a separate flight or mission management computer. Shared Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware resources, as well as flight-proven software modules and development environment, secure our products’ long-term availability and industry support, ensuring continued performance enhancements with advances in sensors and electronics. VAINS Rockwell Collins has developed a patented Vision Augmented Inertial Navigation System (VAINS) that enhances Inertial Navigation System/Global Positioning System (INS/GPS) during GPS outage conditions. This solution uses machine vision or images to provide velocity and position updates to INS in the absence of GPS with results that indicate excellent performance comparable to basic GPS-aided precision. The design of the system is not limited to vision and includes other synthetic imaging including LIDAR, SAR, IR, etc. |
