The Head-Up Display (HUD) provides the pilot with relevant flight and mission information by using hologram technology. The
pilot can read the flight Information via a holography combiner without losing outside world information.
The control panel incorporates LED technology throughout and consists of a central 24 column by 10 row MIDS display panel,
with three programmable Multifunction Switches on either side, to allow convenient parameter selection by the pilot. Further
displays using LEDs provide information like left and right engine fuel or activated radio channel. Visibility requirements
are met due to the better angular dependence of luminance for an LED compared with many other emitters such as an ORT.
Built-in-test functions are also part of the HUD.
Main Features of the Head-Up Display Control Panel (HUD-CP):
- High complexity control and display head for the HUD Pilot's Unit
- Man / Machine Interface to the PDU (Pilot's Display Unit):
- Control of brightness, balance and contrast
- Radio Controls
- HUD main switch and controls
- Dedicated and multifunction push-buttons
- MIDS (Multiple Information System and Distribution System), Engine, Fuel and Radio Displays
- High Luminance LED Displays (approximately 13.000 high efficiency AlInGaP LEDs) for extremely high luminance dynamics (sunlight
readability versus night operation)
- Installed in the cockpit.
