The main functions of the Avionic Computers (consisting of the Avionic Computer and Navigation Computer) are to provide data for navigation, attack and identification. The two computers, which are identical in their hardware configuration, are based on a modular multi-processor architecture. In order to meet the stringent performance requirements for floating point arithmetic, the central processing units are equipped with additional customized Floating Point Accelerators, which can perform arithmetic operations extremely fast. This special purpose co-processor is based on a high performance RISC technology.

Each computer is equipped with interfaces to two STANAG 3910 high speed fiber-optic digital data buses.

The software provided is developed mainly in Ada, applying standardized software development tools and methods. lt includes built-in-test software, an adapted Ada run-time system and a Set of Ada packages to provide a defined interface between target specific input/output interfaces and the application software developed by Eurofighter GmbH.

AC - Attack Functions:

  • Bus Controller for Attack Bus
  • Remote Terminal for Avionics Bus

NC - Navigation Functions:

  • Remote Terminal for Avionics Bus
    (STANAG 3910)
  • Bus Controller for Avionics Bus
    (STANAG 3910)

Installed in the Avionic Bay of the Eurofighter Aircraft.
