Several noteworthy products represent milestones in the success of our operations in Germany.

Display Systems

Rockwell Collins was one of the first companies in Germany to design electronic displays for aircraft. Today, our Head-up Display ranks among the most important instruments for modern fighter aircraft and has become the standard equipment for the Multi-Role-Combat-Aircraft Tornado.

Thanks to helmet-mounted display technology, another of our successful initiatives, military pilots have a new view on the outside world.

Special-purpose Computing Systems

Because of the wide experience Rockwell Collins has acquired with special-purpose computers, the company was awarded a contract for the development and production of the Missile Control System for the Tornado Aircraft.

For the Eurofighter, we have successfully completed the development of various computers, such as

Space Equipment

For more than 35 years, Rockwell Collins has been successful in the field of gyroscopic actuators such as Momentum and Reaction Wheels.

Our TELDIX® Space Wheels (DRALLRAD) are utilized for the stabilization of a variety of satellites. As of July 2007, 729 wheels installed in 280 satellites have been launched, representing more than 3070 years of flawless in-orbit operation.

The company's success in its business activities has been achieved by maintaining consistently high quality coupled with adherence to program and cost targets.

History

Rockwell Collins Deutschland GmbH (formerly TELDIX GmbH) was founded in 1960 as a subsidiary of TELEFUNKEN GmbH and the BENDIX Corporation, USA. In 1973, the Bosch GmbH acquired the Bendix interest and in 1981 also that of AEG-Telefunken. In 1989, TELDIX was integrated into Bosch Telecom.

In February 1996, Litton Industries Inc., Woodland Hills, CA, USA, acquired TELDIX GmbH from Bosch and made TELDIX a "Center of Excellence" for high-technology products in the fields of computer technology, displays and space products, whereby the sister company LITEF GmbH was the "Center of Excellence" for airborne, marine and land vehicle navigation systems.

In April 2001 Northrop Grumman Corporation, Los Angeles, CA, USA acquired Litton Industries. TELDIX and LITEF were part of the Navigation and Space Sensors Division within Northrop Grumman's Electronic Systems sector.

In April 2005, Rockwell Collins acquired TELDIX GmbH from Northrop Grumman Corporation.
