Growth Opportunities
Rockwell Collins is well-positioned in five key areas of high growth potential:
- Information Management -- Rockwell Collins' information management capabilities provide "office in the sky" solutions for linking airline passengers
with business and entertainment systems, and crews with operational and business systems that electronically enable the aircraft.
In addition, Rockwell Collins is working with customers to develop comprehensive, scaleable information management solutions
that close the loop between aircraft and ground systems.
- Transformational Defense Communications -- Changing military operational requirements demand fast, flexible, real-time communications on the ground, in the air,
and at sea. Rockwell Collins leads the way with advanced waveforms, open systems and networking architecture, and advanced
data link technologies that redefine how information is gathered, connected, and distributed, enabling interoperability and
faster decision-making.
- Open System Architecture -- Rockwell Collins created the industry's first open system architecture with multiple applications. That investment is
paying off, as demonstrated with Rockwell Collins' upgrades for the U.S. Air Force KC-135 tanker. Adapted from commercial
technology, the first installation was delivered on budget and ahead of schedule. Technology developments from the KC-135
program are being applied back to new commercial programs like the Boeing 7E7.
- Service and Support -- Rockwell Collins has always provided service, maintenance, and parts for its own products and systems. With economic pressures
turning the industry to outsourcing, the customer trust earned by Rockwell Collins allows it to provide greater logistical
support and total component solutions for both commercial and military customers.
- Next-generation Global Positioning Systems (GPS) -- We have been a pioneer in advanced navigation systems, including the development of the first military GPS user equipment
in the 1980s. First with the Precision Lightweight GPS Receiver (PLGR) and now with its successor, the Defense Advanced GPS
Receiver (DAGR),
Rockwell Collins continues to build trust by providing durable and reliable handheld GPS devices.
