Established in 1990 as a pilot program in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the K-12 Partnership Program was founded in conjunction with
local educators. A mission statement and goals helped guide the program during its early years, and continue to provide focus
today.
Rockwell Collins and the community schools share common interests and goals for enhancing and developing the community's human
resources. Recognizing that business and industry is the beneficiary of the products of our public schools, we embarked on
a collaborative effort to enhance K-12 education.
The purpose of the business-education partnership is to provide mutually agreed upon services to both organizations, which
will enhance the development of the human potential of our students/employees so that they may be successful and productive
community members.
K-12 Partnership Goals
- Support the effective teaching of basic K-12 curricula, including (but not limited to) communication skills, math, science,
global awareness, technology, employment skills and creative thinking.
- Increase parental support for the education process and programs.
- Promote among students a greater awareness of "real world" career options and the education and training needed for such options.
Partnership Schools
The K-12 Partnership Program is a community outreach program working to enrich the education of Cedar Rapids area K-12 students.
Rockwell Collins employees may volunteer at any area school. Formal partnership schools include Hiawatha, Wright, and Pierce
