K-12

How to Get Involved

If you are a teacher or educator who would like to request K-12 volunteers or become active with Rockwell Collins K-12 program, this page gives you the answers to frequently asked questions and the steps you need to follow in order to get involved in a K-12 project:

  • Projects can be initiated by a teacher or by a Rockwell volunteer. Do you have an idea for an interesting project? If you are a teacher at one of our formal partnership schools, you should first contact the Rockwell Collins K-12 liaison. If you are at a non-partnership school, contact the K-12 Coordinator .
  • When a project idea is in place, the person initiating the project must fill out a  Project Planning Sheet  and return for approval. All projects must meet one of the K-12 Program goals . If the project fits within the program guidelines, the K-12 Coordinator will work to recruit volunteers for the project.
  • The volunteer(s) and the educator will receive a copy of the project sheet, along with the letter of approval, the volunteer time charging guidelines and an evaluation to complete at the end of the project.
  • Employees need to make their supervisor aware of their volunteering. They will track time spent both in planning/preparation and in the classroom. This must be recorded on the evaluation that will be returned for updating K-12 program information.
  • Upon completion of the K-12 project, participants are asked to complete an evaluation.
  • That’s it. Enjoy your experience in the classroom.
